April’s Charity of the Month is a Bristol‘s working arts community: Studio Upstairs. It is a place for people to express their talents through the arts who for reasons of mental health difficulties or emotional distress, choose not to participate in traditional arts institutions.

Studio Upstairs‘ mission is to provide support to people who are experiencing enduring mental or emotional difficulties so that they can re-create their reasons and purpose for living, find new ways to live and experience a better quality of life, through art.

The ambition of the charity is to create a network of sustainable, safe, local studios available to all who need them, as and when they need them.

Check out more about them in the video below:

The charity will soon be opening their doors to the public for the weekend. Join them in celebration of the creativity of our Bristol Studio and take a look around the studio for yourself this bank holiday weekend coinciding with the Spike Island Open Studios!

The event will see artists and creative tenants throw open their doors for you to explore their working environment and learn about what they do. Discover how the Spike Island building (a former tea packing factory) is now home to hundreds of artists, designers, and creative businesses.
