Shaken not Stirred: Bristol Cocktail Week Returns

Bristolian cocktail lovers, it’s that time of year again: from Monday 19th to Sunday 25th October, Bristol Cocktail Week returns! This is the pinnacle of all things cocktail in this vibrant and exciting city, mixing the coolest spirit brands and grooviest locations to bring bartenders and cocktail drinkers alike an extravaganza of amazing cocktail events, experiences and knowledge. The gang behind the scenes dropped us a line to tell us what to expect. Hold on to your martini glasses – it’s going to be a good one.

2015 will be Bristol Cocktail Week’s 5th appearance on Bristol’s unique and well-respected cocktail scene. To mark the occasion, Bristol Cocktail Week 2015 has a new brand identity, new website and is bigger and more ambitious than ever before. Not only will the week start with the now traditional bartender competition to decide this year’s winner of the Bristol Cocktail Cup and, therefore, Bristol’s Best Bartender 2015, but there will be a whole assortment of events, culminating in Saturday night’s Bristol Cocktail Week Masquerade Ball which will be held at St George’s.

Other unique events throughout the week include the “Cocktail Movie Drink-along” at 20th Century Flicks on the Christmas Steps where cocktail lovers will be able to watch the iconic 80s movie Cocktail in a private 10 seat cinema whilst one of Bristol’s finest bartenders serves up 3 of the cocktails from the film. Also, “The Thinking Drinkers”, the award winning writers and critically acclaimed comedic performers fresh from their latest Edinburgh Fringe appearance will hilariously guide the audience through the history of the whisky cocktail. Another Bristol Cocktail Week event is Bristol Bar Wars at the fabulous Noche Negra, where the public get to decide the winner in the bitter rivalry between two different genres of cocktail bar – the serious speakeasy-type bar or the more party oriented tiki-style bar.

After trying it out last year for the first time, Bristol Cocktail Week is asking the public to help decide who should win the 8 coveted Bristol Cocktail Week Awards by nominating and voting online. For the first time ever, everyone will get the chance to attend the much anticipated Bristol Cocktail Week Awards Ceremony on the Sunday night. You’ll also get the chance to attend the final heat of the Bristol Cocktail Cup on the Monday night!

Although Bristol Cocktail Week is a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by a team of drinks industry volunteers, this year’s event couldn’t happen without the help and support of our industry-related sponsors such as Nectar Imports, the south’s leading drinks supplier and our headline sponsor; Artis, the catering equipment supplier; Foozie, Bristol’s guide to the best foodie and boozie events, festivals and pop-ups; Duchess Media, the Bristol-based Digital Marketing and Events agency; Deliveroo who deliver, food from restaurants to your door and Evan Williams bourbon distributed by Marussia Beverages in the UK, plus many more.
