There’s no denying it – January is as miserable as discarded Christmas tree that has just got a parking ticket. This year, why not save the money you usually spend on a ludicrously optimistic and ultimately useless gym membership and go out for a giggle. Canadian surrealist Tony Law has garnered some deserved recognition over the last year or so, and he returns to Soho Theatre this month with Enter The Tone Zone and, in our humble opinion, it’s his best show yet. Balls to the wall bonkers.

Since picking up the Edinburgh award at 2013’s fringe, Bridget Christie has been selling out venues all around the country. This will be likely your final opportunity to see her latest show, An Ungrateful Woman, in the capital, so get a wriggle on (see what we did there) if you want to see one of the most celebrated shows of 2014.

A dream pairing if we’ve ever seen one; comedy genius Daniel Kitson has teamed up with the inimitable Tim Key for the first London run of his two man play, Tree, at the Old Vic. It may only be January, but this promises to be one of the highlights of the year.

The Comedy Grotto is back at The Star if Kings of King’s Cross with night pay-what-you-like evening of top-class comedy, raising money for the Edinburgh Free Fringe. Ivo Graham MC’s this months proceedings with a brilliant bill including Will Franken, Holly Burn, Adam Hess, Sophie Duker and Alex Kealy. Book with Wriggle and get £3 off a mulled cider.

Stewart Lee continues a mammoth run of new material shows for the upcoming fourth series of his award-winning Comedy Vehicle this month at the Leicester Square Theatre. The show is mostly sold out but there are a few tickets floating around for those who enjoy a midweek chuckle.
