Wriggle Giggles: London’s Best Xmas Comedy

With Christmas stubbornly adhering to old cliché of ‘getting earlier every year’, it can be hard to maintain your festive grin from the arrival of the first street light’s in early November, through until the inevitable champagne-induced hangover of January 1st. Luckily, there is more than enough going on in the capital this December to help you top up your Christmas cheer. Here’s our lift of this year’s must-see Christmas comedy shows.

When? 8th-20th December

Where? Soho Theatre (Underground no-text.svg  Oxford Circus)

How Much? £12.50 – £20

It’s been a great year for Nick Helm, with the arrival and recommissioning of his brilliant sit-com, Uncle. He was sadly too busy for an Edinburgh show this year but you can join the not-so-jolly fat man for a run of Christmas shows at the Soho Theatre and see off 2014 in sweary style.

Father slutTim Key: Father Slutmas

When? 17th – 20th December

Where? The Arts Theatre (Underground no-text.svg Leicester Square)

How Much? £15 – 16

2014 has been a busy one for Tim Key, having completed a mammoth run of his Single White Slut tour and recently wrapping on series two of Alan Partridge’s Mid Morning Matters. Last year’s incarnation of Father Slutmas at the Invisible Dot was the highlight of the Christmas season, and he is now transferring it to the West End for a three night run at the Arts Theatre. This is not to be missed.

How Much? £10

Prolific comedy ensemble, Liam Williams, Daran Johnson and Alistair Roberts return with their festive show for the fourth year running, along with a brigade of brilliant special guests. Each show of the run takes on a different theme and features a festive blend of “songs, skits, and celebration”.

When? 8th December – 3rd January

Where? Soho Theatre (Underground no-text.svg Oxford Circus)

How Much? £10 – £20

Back with his first tour after his Edinburgh winning show, Bring Me the Head of Adam Riches (the first and only time I have laughed so much I thought I was in immediate physical danger), the madcap character comedian is back with a brand new run of outrageous shows at the Soho Theatre. Expect a surreal evening of stunts, props and lots of audience participation. We advise anyone who’s on the shy side to avoid the front few rows.

Keep an eye on the Wriggle app for exclusive on-the-day offers and some great comedy shows this month.
