Why you need this in your life: Joan’s isn’t your average supper club. Joan’s was inspired by one of those colourful family friends we all have; the kind who make an indelible impression on your youth. More glamorous, a little louder and a little sexier than most of your parents’ friends, Joan was the real-life doyenne and bonne vivante remembered by Shunt founder member, Andrew Rutland. Rather than consigning this muse to the memory box, he’s bringing her gregarious spirit back to life, with a party to which we’re all invited.
As for the feel, picture a 1970’s members club with a backgammon lounge and shisha smoking terrace. Joan was always dressed to impress so guests must follow suit (gents, a tie is obligatory). After dinner, Jonny Trunk will be spinning records until the early hours.
Created by some of the Shunt team (the legendary London nights whose conceptual worlds inspired so many but were rarely equaled), we advise you to expect the unexpected.
What’s on the menu?: A couple of Joan’s Bergamot Vodka Martinis to welcome you. Followed by a Lebanese feast with all the trimmings; climaxing with whole oven roasted baby lamb, served with rice. It’s cooking that’ll do Joan, whose dinner parties were legendary, proud.

Why you need this in your life: Head Chef, Alix Caiger and her band of classy caterers will be popping up with a Christmas supper club in the heart of London’s culinary spiritual home: Borough Market. Caiger & Co. will be gathering up the finest ingredients from around the market to create a series of festive feasts for the party season – a tapas style bar and a seasonal supper club. Taking over the cellar and upstairs of 6 Southwark Street, the menu will make the most of the finest ingredients London has to offer, whether you’re swinging by for a drink and a bite, or tucking into the 3 course evening menu.
What’s on the menu?: The Upstairs menu will offer a selection of ‘Market Place’ salad bowls such as Honey parsnip, chestnut, raisins and parsley with Brindisa’s morcilla, or Roast cauliflower fritters with winter slaw and saffron cream.
The cellar is fitted out with sharing tables and will offer a set 3 course menu, available on Wednesday – Saturday nights and for lunch in Sunday. Starters will be served to the middle of the table and include Beetroot and London gin cured gravlax and Confit rabbit with pickled vegetables and aioli. A different menu each week and desserts ‘painted’ onto the tables – a feast for the eyes!

Whats on the menu?: Right from the gobsmacking, fiery “Jalapeno tea” starter, this is a gastronomic adventure. Chef Adam delivers and introduces each lovingly prepared and presented course, whilst the rest of the team attend to your every whim. We’re talking fine-dining but without the white table-cloths, in a laid-back environment with a fun and knowledgeable team – so pull some amigos together and check it out, since these guys won’t be around for long.
